SEATTLE, 9th Jan
Here we are in Seattle, and its raining! Not unusual for Seattle but we have had dry skies for a couple of days.
We caught the bus down from Vancouver to Seattle - the main time being spent at the border crossing. We didnt end up seeing much in Vancouver due to illness, shall have to go back someday. Feeling much better today.
Yesterday we went out to the Boeing factory which is about 30 miles from Seattle and did a tour, it was amazing. We also went on a ride in a flight simulator, fantastic fun! We also saw the massive factory floor where they were putting together 6 aircraft, and that was only 1 of the 6 sections of the factory.
Today we did a 3 hour tour of Seattle and surrounds, what a pretty city it is, and really easy to find your way around the downtown area. The mountains are covered in snow, but it doesnt snow much here, it predicted to snow today so the locals are all in a tizz about it as they dont have the infrastructure, such as snow ploughs, to cope with it - as it just doesnt happen that often.
We had a great bus tour, ending up at the Space Needle, and went up 520 feet in the elevator on the OUTSIDE of the building - me {who is scared of heights} coped well, up there you can see great views. Due to the winds blowing the needle was actually moving inside so you couldnt stand still up there.
Tomorrow we are going to walk around the old part of the city where the bus took us today, so we can explore all the little shops around there.
I have just been to Barnes & Noble and got a couple of great scrapping ideas books
;-)
havent found a scrap shop here yet.
For Gabe (my niece) there is no actual Seattle Grace Hospital so i couldnt take a picture of it for you (Greys Anatomy for those wondering) but i have a picture of the skyline the same as the opening credits of the show for you to see.
we also saw roughly where Bill Gates lives, but he is out of town this week, so no tea and scones with him !!
We are here for another day then off to Portland - we are about to book bus or train to get there.
cheers all
Debra

Nevermind Aunty Deb, only a week until I am in Vancouver so I will check it out for you! ;-) I am doing alot of what you both did actually, but the opposite direction: Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Quebec then New York. Keep having fun. David.
Hi Debra, glad you are enjoying Seattle and that you are better now. We got back last Friday. It took 30 hours, including a 5 wait at Auckland. It will be great to see you when you get back. Chris
Hi there, sounds like you are having a great timein Seattle, which is also the backdrop for one of my favourite TV shows (Frasier).
Once again, take care and thanks for keeping us up to date with what you are up to. :)
Try to get to Steve Jobs' house in SF for lunch. Better food that won't repeat on you.
David, I am sure you will love Quebec, we did, and your trip sounds great.
Sorry, Wayne, i think Steve Job was out of town that day..lol...
Megan, we saw the actual bar that Cheers was based around!
